As you can see during the demo, you can pick whatever license you
want, you can even specify your own. For the demo I picked Proprietary
because it was faster :)
As for why we allow proprietary licenses, it is to ensure we build the
broadest ecosystem possible for Ubuntu. We want Skype, Twitter,
Facebook, Spotify, etc to all work on Ubuntu and support it as a first
grade platform.
We believe open source will continue to win over proprietary software
over time, but until we get there lets make sure users have the best
experience possible.

You are able to today if you upload deb packages and you will be able
to with click packages closer to the end of the year. Maybe sooner.

Jamie or Marc will be able to answer in more depth than I can, but
applications will run isolated with limited permissions, enforced my
AppArmor and a lot of other great work from the security team.
