Ubuntu audio bug reporting inquiry
Dear Ubuntu Audio Developers / Ubuntu Bug Control:
Hello. I am e-mailing to inquire about how one reports Ubuntu audio
bugs on Launchpad. As per
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems the requested method is
via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug audio
However, one is unable to do this, as per Marco Laverdière's (CC'ed)
below forwarded e-mail, and confirmed on my system:
lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 12.10
Release: 12.10
apt-cache policy audio
N: Unable to locate package audio
apt-cache policy apport
apport:
Installed: 2.6.1-0ubuntu6
Candidate: 2.6.1-0ubuntu6
Version table:
*** 2.6.1-0ubuntu6 0
900 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal-updates/main i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
2.6.1-0ubuntu3 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/main i386 Packages
Would this be a bug in apport?
Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter and I look
forward to your response.

Hi Christopher,
Actually, I filled the report using "ubuntu-bug linux" since I thought
that it was a kernel bug. Now, if I try with "ubuntu-bug sound" it
gives me an error "package sound doesn't exist"...
What do you want me to do then?
Thanks,
Marco Laverdière

mlaverdiere, hey I wanted to e-mail you directly in order not to spam up
your bug report
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1066353 .
When you initially filed this report, did you do so via:
ubuntu-bug sound
If you did not, could you please do this? As per the Ubuntu Audio team
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems this is the method to
report audio/sound bugs. As well, we can just mark
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1066353 a duplicate
of the new report generated via:
ubuntu-bug sound
Also, many of the Sound triagers may not be viewing your report, as it
was not filed in the way designated by the Ubuntu Audio team.
Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter and I look
forward to your response.
