Hi,
My name is Brendan Donegan and I've been a member of the Ubuntu Bug
Squad for just a week or so, but have been triaging bugs in Ubuntu and
other projects since I began working for Canonical. I have been a
regular participant in Bug Days for the past month and have
contributed
as much as possible in the time I have.
Hi Brendan,
I'm happy to see your application here, I saw your name very often
recently, in Bug Days, Five a Day reports and various bug reports too.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/786505
Confirmed the bug and requested the Importance be set to Medium as
a 'usability issue affecting a core application
Seems OK to me.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/evolution/+bug/500913
Confirmed this bug as still occuring in Natty and located and
linked the upstream bug report in Gnome Bugzilla
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/537831
Added a comment giving some extra details about behavior in Natty
and created and linked the upstream bug report in Gnome Bugzilla
You forgot to mention the importance you suggest and why for the two
bugs above. I see that it's already set in the bug and seems to be
obvious, but we would like to see what's your opinion, what should the
importance be and why, to see that you really do understand what you
have read on the wiki from the Importance page.
In this case these bugs had Importance set before I saw them. It
happened I didn't disagree with the already set Importance.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/754128
Confirmed, asked for priority to be set to Medium and linked to
the upstream bug report in Gnome Bugzilla.
You haven't specified the reason, why it should be Medium (it should
be Medium indeed, and I saw in the comments that you've discussed this
with hgddh2 on IRC, but other people can not decide where did you get
this from)
You're correct. I had mentioned the reason to hggdh on IRC but should
have put this in a comment or this application. Thanks for pointing that
out!
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/793291
Confirmed, requested the Importance be set to Low as the problem
is an extreme corner case and upstreamed the bug to Compiz bug
tracker. Also did some investigation to provide a more accurate
description of the problem.
You have specified the reasons why this should be Low in the comments,
but maybe that reasoning should also be part of this application.
Perhaps I could have been clearer, but I think I did mention in the
above comment that it should be Low importance because it only happens
in a very contrived scenario (corner case)
https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/799077
Confirmed, then raised (and linked) an upstream bug in Gnome
Bugzilla and asked for the bug to be set to Low importance, as it
is a cosmetic issue that doesn't affect functionality or usability
of Unity.
I personally wouldn't have upstreamed this one, as this is a Unity
issue, Gnome Shell doesn't have this as Nautilus doesn't draw the
desktop in GS. Other than that, I agree with the Importance and the
status.
I thought Unity could not instruct Nautilus not to display the drive
icon, so some change would need to be made in Nautilus. If that's the
case then the Nautilus developers need to know.
Thank you for your application, I would like to see you in the Bug
Control Team, I think you would be a valuable member of the team.
Robert
Thanks for reviewing my application!
