I just committed a change to trunk to allow easy building on Ubuntu
10.10.  There's now a README with the following instructions:

1) Be on Ubuntu 10.10 or later
2) ./install-pkgs.sh
3) make
4) xdg-open main.pdf

The only latex features I had to disable to work on 10.10 were siunits
(SI units) and ccicons (creative commons icons).

As a special bonus, it now uses the Ubuntu font!
