[Bug 261121] Re: USB drive will not mount

Version: Ubuntu eee 8.0.4.1
System: eeePC 901

The same problem happens to me too, but only when I have more than one removable drive inserted. Originally I was seeing it all the time because I boot up with a blank SD card in the slot. In this configuration, if I insert a USB drive I get the same results KevinL reports. I can open the SD drive, but the USB reports "cannot be mounted". If I remove the SD card, then I can open the USB drive.
Also, I have noticed that if I pull both drives, sometimes the button for it remains on the right side of the screen, but is not selectable (not surprising).

Also, I notice that a drive that a removable drive that is inserted
before boot time does not automatically run the file manager when you
boot. Whereas a drive inserted after boot time automatically opens the
file manager. This may be "as designed", but I don't have much
experience with Ubuntu and no previous experience with Netbook Remix, so
I wouldn't know. Personally I would prefer the icon appear on the right
hand side of the screen, but the file manager should only open when I
click it. Ideally, it should be configurable to the user's taste... and
perhaps it is but I have just not discovered how.

When inserting a USB drive, the drive will show up on the right side dock, but an error message pops up stating that the drive could not be mounted, in looking at the details of the error, it is stating that Super-User privileges are required.
