[Bug 261022] Re: "apt-get update" failure: hash sum mismatch

An "apt-get update" is not sufficient to solve this problem. There is a
corruption in the cached package details delivered by the Live CD.

This problem can be resolved by deleting all files from the following
directories:

/var/lib/apt/lists
/var/lib/apt/lists/partial

(remember to keep the 'parital' directory itself intact)

This change should be made to the Live CD for RC2. The fix itself can also
be applied to any installed copy of RC1

A chronic problem affects 8.04.1 RC1 where "apt-get update" and the update-notifier fail to query the network for package updates, immediately after the installation is complete.
