Is new feature of xorg in Hardy,  the "auto-conf" (Personally, I think
that this is badly), if you need a custom xorg.conf need a CD of Ubuntu
7.10 and run in Live CD mode, open Terminal to:

sudo dkpg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

tweak and replace the xorg.conf from 7.10 to 8.04 (is not easy).
