[Bug 269887] Re: Wifi / WLAN / Wireless shows AP list but cannot connect

Check out https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-eee/+bug/261141

essentially you need to replace two files found in /etc/acpi with
scripts there. I'm redirecting you instead of providing the scripts
because I'm not good enough at this to answer any questions if it goes
wrong for you.

After I did that, I installed that applet I linked to earlier, and that
asks you to delete the default event shell scripts from /etc/acpi/events
which may also do the trick...not sure.

Status in Ubuntu Eee: New

Bug description:
Ubuntu-eee 8.04.1 on Asus eee PC 900 (downloaded and installed from ubuntu-eee.com Sept 12th 2008).

After boot the wifi is active and clicking on the Networking icon a list of all the access points in range is correctly shown.
However, after selecting one AP, the password is eventually asked but no connection is possible. The first dot becomes green, the other stays grey and after a while the attempt fails and the first dot goes back to grey. It happens with both WAP2 and open AP.

Fn+F2 keys can disable the Wifi and the blue led indicator switches off correctly. When I try to reactivate the card the led goes blue again for just after 5 seconds and then it goes back off again. The only way to reactivate the card is to reboot the system.

Both problems have been reported by many other users in different forums.
