Thanks for the help.

This change solves the problem.

in newbe instructions :

open the terminal window (applications/accesoires)

type : sudo chown root:shadow /sbin/unix_chkpwd  {enter}

you are requsted to type the password for sudo (your own login password)

type : sudo chmod 2755 /sbin/unix_chkpwd {enter}

when no errors occur the problem is fixed.
