[Bug 285849] Re: Hibernate does not work

 

Did you create a swap partition of at least the size of your physical
RAM during installation? I don't think hibernate will work without swap.

If you don't have a swap partition you could try to setup hibernation
with a separate hibernation file as explained in http://www.ubuntu-
eee.com/wiki/index.php5?title=Fix:_hibernate, but I haven't tested this
myself.

Perhaps Ubuntu EEE should come out of the box with such a hibernation
setup since the general recommendation seems to be to install without a
swap partition.

Status in Ubuntu Eee: New

Bug description:
Choosing Quit... > Hibernate does not work.
The screen goes blank, then a couple of lines of text appear, but too quickly to read, then the desktop restarts again.
A dialog box asking to unlock the keyring for "mm-applet" appears.

Versions:
Asus eee 1000, 40GB SSD (originally xandros)
ubuntu-eee 8.10.1 with all updates applied
