[Bug 276708] Re: wifi problems

I just installed 8.0.4.1 on my 701 4G, to replace Xandros. It is much
better -- thanks for your work.

However, I cannot get the wireless to connect reliably. It seems to
connect fine when I put the WPA password into Network. When I shutdown
and then start back up, it won't connect. When I look in Network, the
password is obviously corrupted -- it is now several times longer than
the password I put in.

In trying to understand what was going on, I turned off the wireless
using the F2 key. When I would turn it back on, the machine would turn
it off again within a couple of seconds. I finally got it to stay on by
going into Setup when I booted the machine and turning the wireless on
there.

I can live without wireless for a while, but it definitely makes the
system less useful than it would be otherwise.

Shutdown works reliably for me. When I try to get a document to display
from file manager, I get a dialog asking if I want to run it or display
it. This is annoying, but not important -- especially compared to the
wifi problem!

Again, thanks for your work.

Bug description:
I tried 8.04.1. Found a number of problems which forced me back to 8.04.

1) Flaky wireless connection. Sometimes it would connect, sometimes not. Always connected before.
2) Shutdown unreliable from remix. Had to go to a terminal and do a sudo shutdown.
3) Documents didn't display from the file manager. I click on a text doc, hit Display, and nothing happens.
4) Connection via Nokia phone possible but seemed slower than with 8.04.

I do like Remix, the faster boot, and more disk space, but without wireless it was a no-go for the moment
