I had the same probelm. 
First be sure you installed the latest eee-config.
There is a failur in the file /acpi/eeepc-wifi-toggle.sh
ad the end of line 20 misses a than statement.
line should look like this:
if [ -e /etc/default/eeepc-config ]; then

i hope that was all i had to change to be able to use Fn+F2 again

Bug description:
- i can't switch the wireless funktion on/off with fn-f2
- the audiooutput could be louder

the installation was done with external dvd drive and an image burned on dvd.
i'm using an eeepc 4g 701
it is the regular ubuntu eee 8.04.001 installation, without any kernelconfigs
