[Bug 298708] [NEW] Quit button doesn't always work

Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 8.04 EEE, Hardy. Kernel 2.6.24-21, Gnome 2.22.3 Installed on Asus
EEE 1000h 1gb ram and 80gig HD.

With more and more frequency the "Quit..." button has been not working.
It pulls up the "Loading: Quit..." screen. Then it reverts right back to
the previous screen. I have to hold down the power button to shut the
machine down, I then restart into recovery mode to make sure the machine
is alright.

This problem seems to occur more frequently if I have hibernated or
suspended the machine during a session.
