This is due to double-handling of the ACPI-event both by scripts and natively in gnome...
A fix will be released in the next release of eeepc-config.

Bug description:
Hey,

I am running Easy Peasy 1.0 on a eee 900. When I press the mute button (fn+f7) the sound never muts and the volume applet only blinks the mute symbol for a second. Using the applet to mute the computer works fine though.
