Jonathon Hodges proposed the following answer:
Hi Nick,
With Linux, you're almost always better off using a thing called the package manager to install programmes for you. In Easy Peasy, the package manager is called Synaptic. I'm assuming you're connected to the internet when you do the following steps.

Go into Administration from the main Easy Peasy menu. Start Synaptic
on your computer.

When that loads up, you'll find a big list of applications that you can
install. If you press the search button, type in gnucash and hit ok.

That should find three 'packages', one of which is gnucash. Click the
little box at the left hand end of the gnucash listing and choose "Mark
for installation". This will get Synaptic ready to install it. At this
point, Synaptic will pop up a box telling you that there are several
other packages that gnucash needs to have installed for it to work,
these are called 'dependencies'. This is one good reason to use a
package manager; it takes care of the dependencies for you.

Hit OK and you'll be back at the list in Synaptic. You can see that
it's highlighted the two gnucash packages in green, showing that they're
about to be installed. Next, hit apply in the tool bar at the top.
Synaptic will then get to work installing gnucash and its dependencies.

After it's all done you can close Synaptic and then you should find
gnucash in the main menu somewhere, perhaps in Office.

The other useful thing that a package manager like Synaptic will do is
set up your applications so that they're automatically updated when a
new version comes out or if a bug is fixed.
