[Question #60882]: Eee pc 701 wireless

New question #60882 on Easy Peasy:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu-eee/+question/60882

Hardware - EeePc 701 4G
Distribution - EasyPeasy 1.0
Upgrades - via synaptic "mark all upgrades" two days ago.

Thoroughly confusing previous posts, all of which appear to refer to earlier releases, or to 900 models.
Brief summary
Cheese recognises built in webcam, Xsane does not.
Wireless - worked fine under Xandros, so drivers do exist, under EasyPeasy Fn+F2 may well be doing something but it doesn't seem to be turning wireless on and off, it certainly doesn't turn the blue led off.
For example, disable wireless in BIOS, and boot up, blue led is off during startup up to point when wireless drivers load.
Can anybody summarise the current state of play, specifically for the 1.0 release and the 701 hardware.
If you need details of the hardware just let me know which probes to run.
