[Bug 182489] Re: Atheros wireless (AR5007) not working on various laptops, including the ASUS Eee PC

I am an avid Ubuntu user and promoter, however my new laptop is having
extreme problems recognizing my Atheros chipset 5007EG on a Toshiba
Satellite m305d-s4831. I have spent hours with madwifi and ndiswrapper
trying to get the packages to work however both my ethernet and wireless
are not working even though they are being recognized by the hardware
manager. It is making it an incredible headache to try to find all the
packages one by one i need to get this working. Please help get a fix
for this. The kubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Alpha 4 Test's LAN is working
great, however right now i can't access package manager or restricted
drivers until the release, so I don't know if the bug is fixed yet.
Please help. Oh, and the entire campus here is soon to be making the
transition over to linux from windows. Thanks guys!

The Eee PC has non-working wireless out of the box. A patch is available from the madwifi website:

http://madwifi.org/ticket/1679

I'd like to have working wireless in hardy, without having to patch/compile manually :)
