Re: Updated kernel and graphics stack for 12.04 LTS available

Timo,

Does this widen the driver support for Unredirected Fullscreen Windows on precise? i.e. Is intel no longer blacklisted?

Hi,

Just a heads up that the first updated kernel + graphics stack for 12.04
LTS is already testable. Assuming you're using amd64, this one worked
for me at least:

sudo apt-get install linux-generic-lts-quantal
xserver-xorg-lts-quantal libgl1-mesa-dri-lts-quantal
libegl1-mesa-drivers-lts-quantal libgl1-mesa-glx-lts-quantal:i386

As of today, all the proprietary drivers have also been updated to work
with the new kernel
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/jockey/+bug/1080588).

The current 12.04 LTS users will stay with the original stack unless
they opt-in to upgrade, but the 12.04.2 CD installer users will
automatically get on to the updated stack bandwagon. In August or so
(12.04.3) there will be lts-raring stack next.

This is mostly just to spread the word, but also in some cases it may be
worth noticing that eg. libgl1-mesa-dri package is not installed for all
the 12.04 LTS users in the future. If you are checking for the installed
graphics drivers, you will need to allow also
libgl1-mesa-dri-lts-quantal/raring/etc.
