Things look fairly good here :^)
I see no seriously troubling effects with either the standard Unity DE or with the flashback sessions, in fact the flashback w/Compiz session seems a bit better. Well there are possibly some "light text" issues with using the Adwaita theme in Ubuntu but since it's not an out-of-box theme for Ubuntu or Edubuntu I don't consider that much of a problem.
The upgrade process is light:
Commit Log for Tue Dec 31 15:42:20 2013
Upgraded the following packages:
gir1.2-gdesktopenums-3.0 (3.8.2-0ubuntu1) to 3.10.1-0ubuntu1~trusty1
gnome-accessibility-themes (3.8.4-1ubuntu1) to 3.10.0-0ubuntu1~trusty1
gnome-shell-common (3.8.4-0ubuntu6) to 3.10.2.1-0ubuntu1~trusty1
gnome-themes-standard (3.8.4-1ubuntu1) to 3.10.0-0ubuntu1~trusty1
gnome-themes-standard-data (3.8.4-1ubuntu1) to 3.10.0-0ubuntu1~trusty1
gsettings-desktop-schemas (3.8.2-0ubuntu1) to 3.10.1-0ubuntu1~trusty1
So it seems these package updates DO NOT break Ubuntu :^)
Something I had noticed while playing though is we have an update of 'ubuntu-gnome-desktop' held in trusty-proposed:
ubuntu-gnome-meta (0.26) trusty; urgency=low
* update.cfg: Add arm64.
* Refreshed dependencies
* Added cups-filters to desktop-recommends

Should we perhaps be testing with that update applied? I have not been because I assume it's being held back for good reason.
