Hey Lance,
I saw your emails along with the original announcement, was trying to chase up with Ali whether to opt-in or opt out. From a technical
perspective it makes litttle sense,
Then I'd "vote" for opting out of Alpha 1. Alpha 2 is scheduled for July 30th.
So, you both think we should 'not' participate for Alpha 1? If you think so, then I won't be a rock in your path :P
I mean, if you think it is not needed and not 'very' important than I'll simply reply them and say we're not 'in' this time :)
may be caused by the version mismatch.
So IMHO it would be best to opt out of Alpha 1. We could simply say, "Ubuntu GNOME will not participate in Alpha 1 because we are only half way through uploading core 3.16 packages and therefore anticipate issues caused by the version mismatch".
Lance, you have been the most active QA team member over the last few milestones, I don;t think it would be much of a step up from what you have
but there is always keeping the testers active bit that important.
You can always just give a shout out for testing when vital parts of GNOME have landed.
+1
Perhaps you could take lead on Alpha 1 and run this one through? I know you have your issues, but its not a huge step up from what
you are
doing now!
I'm not at all sure what that would entail. That mild stroke 14 months ago has really slowed me down, and I'm a lot more mistake-prone now
than prior to that event. So I'm very reluctant to take on any more and, in all honesty, I'm just unreliable at this point.
Maybe another member of the QA team could step up and perform some of the tasks required for future milestones???????
Nothing special at all. It would be the exact same as you just did when you sent an email to us and wanted to reply them.
already been doing, just adding a few more formal bits, like liasing with the release, reminding people to test (you already seem to do that)
and nagging the docs team for release notes!
Yes, I'm good at nagging.
Should I reply to the release team that we're not participating in Alpha 1? Or would Ali like to do that?
I'm off to the doctor in a few minutes but I'll check my email as soon as I return home.
Lance
Myself and Tim usually remind each other and I know you have always doing that with almost every milestone. For me, your memory is much
stronger than ours :D

Hi, I tried forwarding the message from the release team to Tim's feathertop address and to our QA mailing list twice yesterday
but I see my
two messages are not showing up in the Ubuntu GNOME QA mailing list archives so I'm trying once again w/o forwarding this message:
Opt-in alpha-1 next week <https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-release/2015-June/003291.html>
Can someone please let Stéphane know if we're opting in or not? And also let us iso/upgrade testers know.
Thanks, Lance
PS: I'll be AFK most of today and Friday
