Outpost Packet Message Manager

Wondering if anyone has any experience with Outpost running in an XP
instance in VMware?  I'm having a dickens of a time trying to configure a
serial port to connect to my KPC3+.  It's the only thing I use Windoze for
anymore and I'd like to get it working on my Ubuntu 11.04 installation.
