If you want to try CQRlog, you'll probably be better served installing
the 1.3.1 .deb from its home page:

Debian/Ubuntu as I understand it.

There is a PPA for cqrlog:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ok2cqr/ppa

I'll give it a try when I get my station re-assembled (hopefully in the next few weeks). In the past I used TLF for both contest and general logging but it is time to move on.

First, thanks for the suggestions and discussion. Keep it going :-) it's been interesting thus far and not terribly surprising.

I'll give cqrlog a look. I noticed it sitting in software center yesterday but I didn't look at it too closely. Looking now, I do see that it's version 1.2.2, so I'll add that PPA and give it a whirl.

In any case, bear in mind that I don't necessarily have a problem with paper logs... my biggest issue is that I may not always have my notebook with me when I'm making contacts on the air, which leads to writing down log info on scraps of paper, arms, or whatever which can lead to lost log entries.

Also, thanks for the info on LoTW. I thought it was more ... feature rich than eQSL, but admittedly, I've not really looked too closely at it until now as I always just associated those things with people who are really interested in contesting or awards like DXCC, where I am far more... casual. I just like getting on the air and talking to people from time to time.

Anyway, need to grab breakfast and get ready to start work for the day.

Thanks again, 73 de Jeff
