The notification area is deprecated in favour of the indicator applets
now, but is not officially gone until Natty Narhwal (11.04).

Status in Ubuntu Manual: Confirmed
Bug description:
I am reading the Ubuntu Manual v. 788 (as part of the "Show us ya bugs" initiative), and in Chapter 2, on pp. 23-24, I believe I have discovered an incorrect information bug. The Manual makes frequent mention of the notification area here; however, the notification area is supposed to be going away by Maverick, and is currently on end-of-life/end-of-support, as it were, in Lucid. This (if it is determined a problem) should be changed to application indicators.
