Re: Anyone using a modem, or with access to a modem? Need your help with chapter 3.

I was talking about https://help.ubuntu.com/9.10/internet/C/modem.html

<https://help.ubuntu.com/9.10/internet/C/modem.html>It explicitly states
that NetworkManager can't do dialup. Since I can't see any options for
dialup there either, I think it's correct.

Stats-wise, I found that as of 2 years ago, 9% of people in the US were
using dialup. 5% were on dialup in the UK last year. The same percentage in
India. About 10% in China, as of last year. In all cases, these numbers were
gradually dropping. So, I think that while regrettable, it's acceptable to
omit it from documentation.
