Re: July, 1st meeting summary (English translation)

Je poste également la modification faite par Mohammed:

July, 1st meeting summary:

First, we began our discussion about the validity of the LoCo Team. After
verifying the Ubuntu LoCo validation requirements, we concluded that we're
far from complying with them. However, for us to be a valid LoCo Team, we
need to:

* Have a dynamic IRC channel within the Freenode network. In our case, the
#ubuntu-ma channel is dead because few people are using it and its operator
(Didinux) is hardly ever connected. So, Ha55an decided to contact Didinux to
delegate his operator rights to some members among us (from 2 to 3 members).
We encourage people to participate in the IRC channel when they have free
time.

* Have a dynamic mailing list. While It's too early to evaluate its activity
since the first message just got sent last week, all we can say is that
we're on our way to have it more active. We still encourage you to post
messages in the mailing list for any question or information you need.
Besides, we've asked Ubuntu to host our mailing list on their server instead
of the Canonical one which hosts the actual ML.

* Organize meetings and workshops. We still hadn't organized anything for
now; but we've decided to organize an Install Party -- it's a day when you
can bring your computer and we'll install Ubuntu on it. It's scheduled for
the end of this year, with the Intrepid Ibex release (the next Ubuntu
version). This event will take place in Technopark Casablanca. Probably,
this event will be followed and/or preceded by workshops. More details will
be communicated soon after the members meeting dedicated to prepare for this
event. Thanks in advance to Ha55an who will burn and label CDs and Nextma
who will sponsor the hosting and necessary equipments.

* Have a dynamic wiki page. The actual wiki page content is poor, so I'm
updating it, I'm also collecting a non-exhaustive list of Moroccan Ubuntu
users. My goal is to reach 50 people.

Then, we have talked about the website content. For the wiki, we think that
creating a French and Spanish wiki and their respective forums is useless
because they already exist and we aren't looking to compete with any LoCo
Team. In the Arabic side, we're going to discuss with the Tunisian and
Jordanian LoCo teams to build an Arabic documentation together, the forums
are also concerned by this project.

Some members among us have decided to create a podcast about Ubuntu and Free
softwares. The discussion will be done thanks to Ekiga VoIP client.
Everybody can participate into these episodes if he so wish. The first
episode will be recorded within two to three weeks and a dedicated Wordpress
blog will be created to host these podcasts.
