Message #00265
Joint Project Idea
Greetings to the NGO and Ohio teams.
Over the course of e-mails back and forth with Laura Czajkowski and Paul
Tagliamonte, an interesting idea is starting to crystallize.
Under the blueprint action area for external advocacy by the NGO team,
the idea being batted about is preparing a promotional program
presenting real users who use Ubuntu. The promotional piece would be
geared to an audience of non-specialist computer users at NGOs. As the
Ohio team is looking to launch its own podcast in 2010, this provides
members of the Ohio team a chance to practice in recording their own
audio and putting together material for others to consume.
The target time for the promotional bit is about 15-20 minutes.
Some of the roles that potentially need to be undertaken in this effort
include:
* Community Council member(s) speaking about why they use Ubuntu and how
it benefits others
* MOTU who can speak to why they went with Ubuntu over other options
* General users speaking about what they do practically with Ubuntu
(i.e. Make presentations with OO.o or KOffice, crunch numbers in
Gnumeric, etc.)
* NGO team members talking about current work of packaging and the
"continuous improvement process" being started that is called paper jams
* People to copy edit
* People with an ear for design to make the soundscape appealing
* People to remind those pitching in that they are only human
The timeline for this is to start in early January and have something
ready for release on 14 February 2010.
Some of the thoughts from the Shot of Jaq episode "The Clueful ISP
Opportunity" are relevant to this. Discussion of this is probably going
to be beneficial.
