[Bug 794293] Re: Need a Quick Start Guide
I think it's important to provide a better way into Ubuntu development,
which is why I'd like to raise the importance.
The question is: what do we want? My thinking is that a guide that tries
to explain a lot in a short time might be hard to understand and
depending on the use-case not really useful. A cheatsheet would be nice.
What would it contain though?
Would it help to abuse the landing page as this cheatsheet and try for
us to make that page more inviting/useful?

Title:
Need a Quick Start Guide
Status in Ubuntu Packaging Guide:
Incomplete
Bug description:
As Steve Langasek, Scott Kitterman and others point out, e.g.:
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2011-June/033401.html
we really need a Quick Start Guide and/or cheat sheet so that people
who generally understand what's going on can have a very short
document to refer to in their daily activities. As Steve says:
"The "quick start guide" should be the *first* place we direct new
developers, with "would you like to know more?" links available for
them to drill down into; and if more documentation needs to be added,
it should be added on the individual detail pages."
