For me Ubuntu has always been more then a brand, it's a philosophy of
respect. We all know that currently there is nearly no IT product out there
produced under fair conditions. This will not change over night but there
is now a possibility arising in ~2013 to get a fair trade phone and the
producers of that phone are toying with the idea to support Ubuntu Mobile:
"Another option we are currently looking into is to launch the phone with
Android, but fully prepare the FairPhone for Ubuntu."

Building a different mobile OS is one thing but being really different is
another thing. FairPhone could be a nice gesture, an Ubuntu gesture - even
if there would be only a small amount of fair trade phones with Ubuntu
Mobile on it - better than the status quo and no other competitor has
currently a phone that was produced under fair trade condition.
