Wow, I really like it.
It works great on the desktop. I even think about to have it as the
default way to access the launcher for me. All it would need is a
small bar on the left side. Then the user could just throw the mouse
cursor to the left and drag it a bit to the right to get the
launcher.
To close the launcher when already dragging, move the mouse to the
outer left and releasing the cursor.
What I like about the idea:
* When moving the mouse just a bit to the left the mouse pointer is
over the application icon (it feels right)
* releasing the mouse would trigger the icon the mouse is currently
over (it feels right) and is faster than to have to click a second
time
* This way the app name can be displayed too, maybe even some
further informations (lot of horizontal space)
* It looks elegant and feels IMHO very right
Downs:
* Discoverability
Maybe Canonical could add this launcher interaction style as another
possibility to clever hide & reveal the launcher. For the Ubuntu
phone
users it would be more intuitive to have the same action doing the
same on the desktop and the phone.
As told above it feels good. The Win8 launcher reveal action feels
broken, having the launcher all time like the Unity default is okay
but wastes space. The suggested method would save space and be
intuitive once learned how to use it (would work using laptop
touchpads too).

Hello World!
Just for fun i am building a Web Version of the Unity Launcher:
http://jsfiddle.net/Robbilie/7CbDn/24/show/ [1]
(you might increase the 24 in the next days to see more recent
versions)
My Question:
Would the Ubuntu-Phone Team or Canonical in general be interested in
this to present the "Look & Feel of Unity" on their website to give
possible future users the ability to test this out...?
If not i simply gonna use this for smthng else...
