Re: Built image for GT-P6800 missing /data/ubuntu ?

But isn't that why you have Kernel or micro kernel + selectable amount of driver library's you can offer for installation?

Ubuntu can offer generic kernel that would definetly work with all major arm-platforms. Ie. most of the components are almost same for varioty of the Exynos4 soc for example...

Perhaps when they no longer rely on the Android base. But the problem is the vast variety in components would result in having to package every single driver out there.

Ok, the repositories were quite bad yesterday. Now those are fixed and new image was made. Still the device wont boot with the built rom and with Ubuntu-image. Is it so that in future, you’ll get already built rom that you can just flash for your device?

Ah my bad, the repository was reforked yesterday and I forgot the two lines I have there. I have used Iocerras CM10.1 device repository as a base for my current repository and it was divided a little bit. In that case the BoardConfig.mk and BoardConfigCommon.mk includes the information (you'll find the include-section in BoardConfig.mk file).

After refork I did not combine these two files and the build process went on without issues, but any of the previously tested cm-10.1 images have still built...

But thanks for noting that, I'll do the recombination again and also the rest of the cleaning that I have not yet done for this repository.

And anyway, the CM-10.1 I'm currently running on my device is based on this repository, so I would not say that the code base itself is broken (because it can be built and flashed just with cm-10.1 parts)...

Your device tree....is that it? You seem to be missing huge pieces of information.
Look at my BoardConfig and see how huge it is

Yours is rather small, you could be missing many essential pieces of information.

Here is the Forum post that I have been working with: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38648150

There is also the process described how I have done flashing etc...

And yes, I have done it so that first the cm-10.1 build image and then the ubuntu. Also confirmed after flashing that /data/ubuntu and /system are set, but still, it just wont start. I'm begining to think that there is something seriously wrong with the compiled kernel. Bad thing is that there is no way to see logs what is happening when I boot the device. No files are touched how-ever in the /data/ubuntu...

You did flash the quantal-preinstalled roofs zip and the android base right?

Thank you for help with this issue. Made a lot of sense.

Now the other problem here is that it still does not boot and after attempting to boot the system with /data/ubuntu in device, it just hangs the same as previous. When I then go back to recovery and check for the logs from /data/ubuntu/var/logs, no files have been updated.

So my question is now that where should I look for next. My intuition says that the /data/ubuntu is not either mounted or the boot manager (or what ever starts the binaries in /data/ubuntu) does not know that the system should start using /data/ubuntu operating system...

Hi Elmeri

The /data/ubuntu is created by flash quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip through recovery. You can download it from Ubuntu-Phone daily build http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-touch-preview/daily-preinstalled/current/. The img created during the build is only Android side for Ubuntu Phone.

Please make sure /data partition has more than 1.6 GB free, the extracted folder is about 800MB.

Linden

Hi, I was able to create image for my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 (gt-p6800) after little bit tinkering with available CM10.1 repositories. The problem is that the created image does not contain /data/ubuntu at all and thus the Ubuntu touch developer preview does not boot at all. Am I doing something wrong or where should I start looking for answers?

Should I create fstab-file from scratch and how it should be constructed for /data/ubuntu to appear with correct files?
