Message #00924
Core Apps PPA
Hey all,
We've created a daily PPA for all the core apps currently been worked
on. The applications are all in various states of completeness. Expect
bugs & crashes. Kittens should be kept at a safe distance!
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-touch-coreapps-drivers/+archive/daily
The PPA contains daily builds for x86, AMD64 and armhf of all the core
apps, for quantal only. We'll look to build for raring too shortly, but
note the Ubuntu Touch images are currently quantal based.
To test out the core apps on a desktop simply add the PPA as usual:-
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-touch-coreapps-drivers/daily
(if you're on raring you will need to edit
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubuntu-touch-coreapps-drivers-daily-raring.list
to change raring to quantal as we don't have raring builds yet)
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install <appname>
Apps can be started directly from the dash.
To test out on the phone you can ssh into the device directly from
qtcreator "devices" menu and install using the same commands above.
Note: There's currently a bug in the Ubuntu Touch image which prevents
icons for the applications from appearing on the launcher, we hope to
have that fixed shortly. In the meantime you can start the apps by
running the script shipped with each app, for example
/usr/bin/ubuntu-calculator-app (which in turn runs qmlscene
/usr/share/ubuntu-calculator-app/calculator.qml).
For other bugs in the individual apps, including packaging issues,
please report to the appropriate places: -
http://bugs.launchpad.net/<appname>
Cheers,
