Re: <Blink> or WebKit ?

Hi,

It still makes sense to stick with snowshoe/qtwebkit - at least for the
first release.

Several reasons:

1. Qt and QtWebKit is - by far - the easiest framework and port to work
with (still) when you do hybrid webkit/app integration
2. blink will most probably get a load of fixes/changes in the coming
months - let's see where it lands
3. surely, Digia must be considering their options after the Blink
announcement - who knows if they will move to Blink from WebKit. Again,
depending on how blink will evolve and allow ports to be directly
integrated in the future, this may be easy/hard. AFAIK, QtWebKit uses
QPainter, QNetworkAccessManager, etc. where "QtBlink" might have to use
whatever google dictates (I am outside my field here - please correct me if
I am wrong)
4. Sticking with webkit makes sense if you think of "device compatibility
with iOS", which is still a pretty popular platform.

Also - you *don't* want to rock the boat too much with the web browser and
engine less than a year before the release.

Two things that should NOT be underestimated (but often is) when making a
brand new high-end mobile:

1. The virtual keyboard (no ... it's NOT just a keyboard. The virtual
keyboard interacts with input fields, dictionaries, etc. in tricky ways)
2. The web browser.
