I'm not sure this is relevant to your original question, but we've had a
long-standing goal in Ubuntu at-large to promote Python 3 as the default, and
to remove Python 2 from default installs.
For 14.04, we won't be able to demote Python 2 to universe. It's likely
unfeasible to remove it from the default desktop image yet, but I *am*
confident we'll be able to have only Python 3 on the default touch (and
possibly server) images.
That's a different question than whether Python is supported in the SDK, and
not my decision. But if it ever were to be supported, it would have to be
Python 3.
