Hey Matthew, Just some small comments:- I don't think those errors happen on start (the code suggests issues on the view listing items being downloaded)
- those apport errors don't always mean the program is not working correctly (especially for python, it might just be that an exception is raised and not handled, which happens e.g if you get a password prompt to install upgrades and dismiss it (update-manager keeps working fine in that case))
- with the convergence the new tools are going to need to work for desktop as well indeed
