well, you need a PC for adb but something like the following should work
as a quick workaround:

 adb shell ... 
mount -o remount,rw /
vi /etc/system-image/writable-path
add the changes from http://paste.ubuntu.com/7857334/ 
mount -o remount,ro /
reboot
