Message #10390
Various issues release #6 on mako
Hi
I updated to this release OTA from #5 on October 18th. I use my Nexus 4
every day at work and at home, and have done so for the past month.
Below are some issues I have encountered. I am posting them here in the
hope that this may prove helpful, but if I should have done otherwise,
please let me know!
General comment: Release #5 was more stable.
1) After upgrade the settings page "about this phone" lists the last
update as having taken place on 2 January 1970.
2) At first reboot bluetooth service was activated. After deactivating
it in the settings menu I have not been able to reactivate it, except
for on occasional reboots. Neither the indicator icon drop down menu,
nor the settings menu actually turn on bluetooth, although the button
shows it to be activated in both cases. However, the settings in these
two places appear to be independent of each other. One can show it as
active, while the other does not, and the service does not seem to be
active in any case.
3) I have experienced multiple crashes. These have typically occurred
when trying to start the web browser. Everything freezes and I have to
reboot using the power button. (I can turn off the screen with the power
button, then wake it up/unlock it, but this brings med back to the
frozen screen.) The device has also crashed a couple of times while
attempting to open Facebook.
4) I have experienced screen freezing once or twice when swiping from
right to left to get the collapsed/slanted page view of active apps. I
believe this went away when I turned the screen off/on without rebooting
the phone, but I am not sure I remember correctly.
5) Turning sound up/down seems to work, except for the ring tone and
notification sound, which seem to work/not work in a fairly random
manner, despite the sound level apparently being set to maximum.
6) When making a call, the screen goes black the instant I hit the
'call' button on the screen. I have to wake the screen by pressing the
power button in order to switch the call to speaker. However, when I did
this today, the sound did not switch from the 'ear speaker' to the rear
speaker at first. I had to hold the phone to my ear and a few seconds
later it suddenly switched. This could of course be an issue with my
phone's proximity sensor, but I have no way of knowing.
7) On one occasion, a missed call having resulted in a notification, I
deleted the notification, but the front blue falshing light did not quit
flashing. I had to reboot the phone to get rid of it.
Well, these are the issues I remember. I have experienced all of them
since upgrading to release #6. (Issue number 6 was also an issue on
release #5 on my phone.)
I hope this helps!
