Hi Dawid,

I understand your doubt, and I have to say at first I thought the same :)
The reason why the dial pad has letters on it as well as numbers is
explained in
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telephone_keypad#Layout_and_characters

I think at some point one of the mobile platforms used the letter/number
mapping for smart contact search directly from the dialer (instead of the
contacts app), but I couldn't find evidence of that being implemented in
modern mobile operating systems, though I agree that it could make sense
(for some people, and it would be confusing for others).

Out of curiosity, why were you expecting this behaviour? Have you seen it
on another platform you previously used? if so, which one?
