Message #15005
PSA: Packaging requirements for CI Train users
Hi everybody,
I just wanted to take a moment to remind people that if you're making
a change to any files in the debian/ directory of a CI Train managed
project, those changes need to be noted in the debian/changelog.
If you're using the debian/changelog auto-generation (which most
people are), this means you need to mention the changes in the commit
message field of the MP which makes the change.
The archive admins used to let this sort of thing slide but they are
getting stricter about wanting more verbose changelogs explaining why
the debian packaging is changing.
It's causing some issues as people are building their packages, doing
all sorts of testing, and then needing to rebuild afterwards because
the changelog was wrong, which wastes time & resources for both the
developer and the package reviewer. Please get your changelogs correct
in the first place!
Thanks.
