Re: [sdk] create VM image for developing
Hey Zoltan,
I'm sorry there was never a clear issue which I could track down, so I never reported a bug. I also can't describe what exactly was the problem, I just know that things didn't work when I tried it the last time (2 month ago). Since I decided to concentrate my efforts on other (personal) projects I stopped trying and in the next month I want have time messing around again.
I'm sorry for not helping...
cheers

Thank you meles, for your feedback.
Would you mind to share with me what problems you had on your laptop. It would help us to track down possible bugs if you were bitten by one.
Installing the Ubuntu SDK on a 14.04 or newer Ubuntu should not be more then doing what the insttuctions say: https://developer.ubuntu.com/en/start/ubuntu-sdk/installing-the-sdk/
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-sdk-team/ppa
$ sudo apt update && $ubuntu-sdk
If you do not want to strugle with the chroot bootstrap you can install the static Kit too:
$ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-sdk-api-15.04-armhf
cheers,

I bought the BQ Aquarius in one of the first flash sales. I was really wanting to support this project (meanwhile I switched to Android). My biggest problem was the lack of time for active development. But not only this, I had real problems setting up the SDK properly on my laptop. On the desktop it worked without issues, on the laptop I didn't get it running till the end. I thought the different frameworks and the creating of virtual devices was to complicated. And tue to the installation time the a new toolkit needed and the diskspace required trial and error was just to time consuming.
Because of that reasons a VM image would be a nice option, so people could get faster into development without having to mess around with the setup.
kind regards
meles
