Hello everyone,
We're back with the daily landing updates. While we're at it: I just
hope my e-mails are not spamming people's mailboxes too much
everyday -
we might consider changing their frequency in case they do.
Please don't stop! Your emails are very informative and very useful
if one wants to stay up to date with what's going on :)
(speaking for myself only, of course)
Anyway, the last few days were very intense landing-wise. We had
really
a lot of new packages released to our overlay PPA - too many to list
all. From the more notable, there was a new ubuntu-ui-toolkit
with some
dynamic grid unit preparations, scrollbar visual updates and
bugfixes; a
new upstream release of network-manager, initial release of
aethercast
(for wifi display!), two new releases of Unity8 (with work on dynamic
grid units as well) and many many many others.
Since we're already in String Freeze, please be sure to check the
if all
strings for your languages are translated for our main components
[1].
Help greatly appreciated!
There was also a small hiccup in rc-proposed while I was gone,
with the
new network-manager stack introducing a rather serious regression
that
took a bit to get fixed. Situations like these are inevitable on
rc-proposed which is one of the reasons for which we do not recommend
using it for daily phone usage - only stable images get proper
testing
before appearing in the channel.
All in all, everything is back to normal now with new images building
nightly again.
Remember - this Friday is OTA-11 Final Freeze. Testing of the first
candidate should begin on Monday and take around 2 weeks (or more,
depending on the image status).
Cheers,
