Yes, that works flawlessly. However in crowded public areas (I use my
phone for broadband connection for my laptop), it's desirable for
security reasons to run usb tethering.
on the phone, ifconfig rndis0 shows
Link encap: Ethernet HWaddr xx:xx (etc.).
inet addr: 10.42.1.1 Bcast: 10.42.1.255 Mask: 255.255.255.0
inet6 addr: xx:: (etc) ... Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX and TX packets: 0 errors: 0 --> (everything =0)
RX bytes:0 (0.0 B) TX bytes:0 (0.0 B)
So no Transmitting or receiving anything (via tethering/ethernet).
