Message #23902
free and open source OS and personal computing
Hi everyone,
After the news that Canonical is abandoning unity the following became
clear to me. Free and open source OS on personal computing devices will
never became a success.
If it is sponsored by a company then there isn't any known way for the
company to make profit and if is sponsored by community no OEM will care.
Only technical users and nerds benefit from free and open source OS.
The free and open source OSes that seems profitable is Android and Chrome
OS because Google sells our data to god knows who.
Your thoughts?
