The Ubuntu Translations Portal and editors

Hi translations coordinators,

You might have noticed that you received an e-mail with the subject
"ubuntu-translations-coordinators joined ul10n-portal-editors", so I
thought I'd give you a bit of background.

You'll remember that one of the objectives last cycle was to create the
Translations Portal. Until now, the portal has been waiting for
deployment, but I'm happy to announce that from today on it's online :)

I'm still configuring and it's still pretty bare at the moment, which is
why I haven't announced it yet. In the next few days I'll add more
content to it and I'm also working on a theme update to fix some of the
most visible issues.

The site is set up with OpenID login using the Ubuntu SSO login, so
everyone with a Launchpad account will be able to log in and at least
leave comments on posts.

I've been setting up permissions, and I've added the
ubuntu-translations-coordinators team to the ul10n-portal-editors team
in Launchpad. Anyone in that team has an editor role, which means that
you'll be able to create, edit and remove content, and you'll have some
other permissions related to content management.

Some use cases I can see in the future for this:

      * We create templates in the site for every type of
translations-related announcement. The site will be syndicated
to Planet Ubuntu and every translations coordinator will be able
        to post such announcements.
      * Any translations coordinator will be able to post content

So, here it is for your viewing pleasure (remember this will not be the
final form and it's not supposed to be widely public yet).

http://translations.ubuntu.com/
Or the alias: http://l10n.ubuntu.com/

If you've got any feedback or questions, please let me know. If you see
any bugs, please report them at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ul10n-portal/+filebug

For any other questions, check out the announcement a while ago [1] or
just ask me :)

Cheers,
David.
