[Bug 878851] Re: Date and Time Settings in the panel are improperly translated using Simplified Chinese
Hi David,
You can close these out. Your hint on scenario #2 and the fact that
stock ubuntu installs with oem-config led us on to something.
After some additional digging we found a bug in our dell-recovery tool
that was throwing things off while simulating a factory preload for a
machine bound for China:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/+source/dell-
recovery/+bug/879114
We had an incorrect Simplified Chinese setting specified, which in turn
caused some the mayhem listed in this issue. Now that we have the right
language setting in place, the items mentioned in this bug are now
properly translated.
Thanks!

Title:
Date and Time Settings in the panel are improperly translated using
Simplified Chinese
Status in Ubuntu Translations:
Triaged
Status in “unity-2d” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
unity-2d 4.12.0-0ubuntu1 (oneiric)
When using Simplified Chinese as the default language, it has been
noticed that some of the time and date settings are incorrect in the
panel applet for the clock.
The two that were noticed:
Scenario 1) The week is improperly translated in the unity-2d panel if the user does the following:
*Clicks the clock, selects 'time and date settings' and clicks the checkbox to show the week.
*The result is an improperly translated week. See attached "picture2.jpg"
Scenario 2) The week is improperly translated in the clock applet when clicked. To reproduce:
* Click the clock applet in the panel
* View the line that are supposed to display the day, month, and the week. Note that they are not translated properly into Simplified Chinese. The day says "Label Empty", Month is just a "(u)" for every month, and the days of the week on the calendar are garbled. See attached "picture 3.jpg"
