Title:
  Request blanking of translations in gd locale

Status in Ubuntu Translations:

Bug description:
  Based on a discussion on the l10n list, I would like to request the
  blanking of all translations in the Scottish Gaelic (gd) locale
  (either just the most recent branch or the entire Ubuntu project). I
  realise this is an extreme measure but the reasons are serious and
  fairly urgent as the current releases of Ubuntu in this language are
  so bad it's almost unintelligible:

  1) the locale contains very old contributions which are actually Scots
  (an unrelated language) or German. How they got there or why, I do not
  know.

  2)the locale contains a very high number of contributions from a translator who has now resigned from the project who was very enthusiastic but only semi-literate and as a result, the translations are barely intelligible. The sheer number of bad translations does not make it feasible to filter out all translations to correct them in time for the next release. The issues are not issues of style or the occasional typo but basic grammatical errors on a par with "all your base are belong to us"
  The sheer number of bad translations also renders the suggestions feature mostly useless because there can be anything up to half a dozen bad suggestions, making it very time consuming to identify the right one.

  3) It also turns out that I have been proofreading an older branch,
  which I shouldn't have, and the proofread translations are not
  propagating through to the most recent - and even if they did, it
  would mean having to check each individual file again to ensure that
  all the *new* strings are also ok, a task which would cost an awful
  lot of time.

  Alternatively, if it is possible to remove translations based on the
  contributor, that would also be ok but the status quo has become
  unworkable.
