[Bug 393510] [NEW] X crashes when I touch the mouse pad

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Fresh install of Jaunty 9.04 on HP laptop model G70-212EM. Needed to
plug in external keyboard and mouse to complete installation. After
install added the following defoptions to menu.lst as laptop's keyboard
and touchpad were not functioning.

i8042.nomux=1 i8042.direct=1 i8042.nopnp=1 i8042.dumbkbd=1

Following reboot laptop's keyboard OK, but when touchpad touched system
crash caused with flickering. System only responsive from switching off
on power button.

System functional with an external mouse plugged, as long as contact
with the touchpad avoided
