I can get the touchpad working again.

2. But I still have keyboard problem described here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/578040
and where the solution is described in comment #15:
"After keyboard is locked, visiting console and returning to X seems to free keyboard."
