Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

just before login screen appears, the mouse pointer shows then the screen screens goes off then comes back then goes off again and repeats that for about 6 or 7 times then I got a blank screen with the mouse pointer and nothing else.
I press SysReq + R then swith to tty1 to use the computer in command line mode.
livecd works fine with 3d acceleration support (shadows under gnome-panel)
I switched to vesa through xorg.conf.failsafe and now I can get the system up

i915 -> system crash
vesa -> fine
