[Bug 709418] [NEW] [xorg-edgers] external monitor corruption on wake from suspend

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

Using maverick + xorg-edgers ppa on an HP Envy15 with 01:00.0 VGA
compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc Broadway PRO
[Mobility Radeon HD 5800 Series] [1002:68a1]

after waking from suspend, my HDMI-plugged in external monitor was
corrupted as shown in attached picture until reboot.
unplugging/replugging did not help, nor did restarting X.

laptop monitor is 1920x1080, external monitor is 1920x1200.

(tried reporting using ubuntu-bug, but got "This is not a genuine Ubuntu
package", so let me know how to provide any further needed information)

** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
