[Bug 709729] Re: X11 crashes when bluetooth mouse is being used as input device

As a text I disabled my bluetooth mouse: X11 works like a charm (with
the touchpad)

** Summary changed:

- X11 crashes, magic-sysreq-key doesn't work anymore
+ X11 crashes when bluetooth mouse is being used as input device

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evdev

After today's update, X11 is crashing and locking up the machine. The
- machine boots normally, gdm is being started, but once I move the
+ machine boots normally, gdm is being started, but once I try to use the
bluetooth connected mouse, the screen starts to flicker, and then the
  machine locks up.

+ magic-sysreq-key doesn't work, switching to the console doesn't work.

The machine DOES NOT use compiz:

  $ ps auxwww|grep compiz
  hildeb 2549 0.0 0.0 10372 924 pts/0 S+ 13:11 0:00 grep compiz

So I think the packages causing the error boil down to the xorg and x11
  packages:

-
  2011-01-29 09:13:37 status installed libx11-data 2:1.3.3-3ubuntu3
  2011-01-29 09:13:37 status installed libx11-6 2:1.3.3-3ubuntu3

  2011-01-29 09:13:59 status installed xserver-xorg-video-fbdev 1:0.4.2-3ubuntu1

I don't use fb (in X) or the "chips" driver, and the dev packages don't
  matter, thus:

  2011-01-29 09:13:37 status installed libx11-data 2:1.3.3-3ubuntu3

  2011-01-29 09:13:59 status installed xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.6.0-1ubuntu1

The logfile (attached) documents a crash immediately after the mouse is
  being recognized:
